Mental Health Clinicians assist people with building on their strengths and developing the skills necessary to overcome personal challenges. Working with an interdisciplinary team, mental health clinicians provide counselling, mental health assessments, tailored intervention and treatment plans, group counselling and navigation assistance to additional resources to individuals, couples and families that may support you in reaching your goals. Other services offered include service navigation, and psycho educational groups.
The Mental Health Clinicians at the Powassan and Area Family Health Team are registered health professionals with backgrounds in psychotherapy and/or social work.
Patients can access up to eight counselling sessions with a referral from their family physician.
Referrals for Counselling are available for those who may need support with:
- Mood (depression, anxiety, etc..)
- Addictions
- Trauma
- Experiences of intimate partner violence
- Family discord
- Eating disorders
- Grief and loss
- Marital or relationship problems
- Work or school related problems
- Parenting
- Chronic disease or pain management
