Our brand new building is now set for bring in new physicians into our family health team.

New Practice Opportunity - Family Physician

  • Full time practice opportunity
  • Opportunity to increase patient roster quickly
  • Low overhead costs with full administrative support
  • Supported by other health professionals within a team (NP, 2 RPN, SW, RD)
  • No on-call hours and no hospital coverage required
  • One evening or weekend half day clinic a week
  • Northern grant available for qualifying relocating physicians
  • Opportunity to practice a diverse range of skills including Long Term Care, Eides Residential Home (psychiatric residence) and family medicine, optional ER and surgical assists through North Bay Regional Health Centre.

The Family Health Organization (FHO)

Physicians on our team are members of a Family Health Organization (FHO). Based on an agreement with the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-term Care, the FHO uses a blended payment model, which includes a capitation payment derived from the size of their individual patient roster.

Other special premiums are paid to the physician for several areas of care including preventative care, hospital services, palliative care, home visits, obstetrics and prenatal care.

All patients are rostered to an individual physician. Physicians and our Nurse Practitioner have a schedule for after hour’s clinics provided to our patients by appointment only. Patients will see their Family Physician or the Nurse Practitioner when making an evening appointment. Physicians can refer their patients to any member of our interdisciplinary team.

Incentives:

  • Eligible for the $84,760 paid over four years through the HealthForce Ontario Northern and Rural Recruitment and Retention Initiative (MOHLTC)
  • $7,000 a year through the Northern Physician Retention Initiative
  • 21 additional days of vacation per annum through the Rural Family Medicine Locum Program
  • May be eligible for the Community Site Visit Program (an all-expense paid visit to our community)

Family Physicians Must Possess:

  • Current valid license with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario, CCFP preferred
  • New graduates are welcome to apply

Compensation:

  • Generous compensation through a Family Health Organization

  • North Bay, a major referral centre, is located 25 minutes north of Powassan and houses the new North Bay Regional Health Centre with a 24 hour ED
  • Sudbury, a major referral centre, is located 2 hours west of Powassan
